Chair of Management Board, European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Director General, Greece’s General State Chemical Laboratory

Sofia Zisi, Director General of the General Chemical State Laboratory (GCSL) of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR), was elected Chair of the ECHA Management Board in September 2024. A Chemical Engineer with a Ph.D. in laser polymerization processes (“3D printing”) from CNRS-INPL, France, she focuses on public health and environmental protection, safeguarding public revenues, and consumer interests. As the head of GCSL, she has led the successful implementation of quality systems (EN ISO/IEC) in its operations.

Fluent in Greek, English, French, and German, she has contributed to international conferences, holds a European patent, and has published scientific papers. Her collaborative leadership style promotes innovation and supports chemical safety at both national and European levels.
