Maria Tsiompanou
President, Panhellenic Union of Public Works Constructions Associations
I was born and raised in the historic city of Kozani, located in the Region of Western Macedonia. I come from a large family, the daughter of Michail Tsiobánou and Stella Voudouri, and one of their six children. Today, I have my own family and I am proud to be the mother of three daughters, all of whom are students at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Anastasia is in her final year at the School of Agricultural Sciences, while Michaela and Styliana are studying at the Polytechnic Division, majoring in Civil Engineering.

I chose to pursue engineering as a profession, guided by my temperament and inclination for the sciences. Upon earning my degree in Mechanical Engineering, I launched my career as a freelancer, initially specializing in electromechanical studies. However, I was soon drawn to the field of construction, particularly the execution of public works. To this day, I remain actively engaged in public works construction.

The construction site is my favorite aspect of this profession. I often express the deep satisfaction I find in both the creativity and the impact of my work, knowing that our projects are ultimately delivered for the benefit of our fellow citizens.

In parallel with my professional career, I soon became actively engaged in public affairs.

Since 2007, I have been committed to serving the collective professional good, driven by a deep belief that contributing to shared initiatives and efforts is a fundamental means to serve
society.
