George Karavasilis joined Druckfarben Hellas S.A. during 1982, when it was still a limited liability company. In 1983 the Karavasilis family acquires 70% of the company. In 1986 the company’s legal form changed to SA. During the same period, construction started of its new manufacturing plant in Agios Nikolaos, Chalkida which finished by mid, 1987.
During 1991 George Karavasilis acquires 30% of the remaining shares. Druckfarben Hellas S.A. expanded its activities further from the flexible packaging ink market to the trading of offset inks, graphic art materials & machinery. In December 1998 Druckfarben Hellas S.A. was listed in the Athens Stock Exchange.
In October 1999 Druckfarben Hellas S.A. entered the paint sector by acquiring 51% of the International Helios Cotachem SA (brand “Kraft Paints”), as well as 93,4% of the commercial company Polymet S.A. and eventually merged them into Druckfarben Group. In June 2007 Druckfarben Hellas S.A. purchased the majority of the shares of Evrochroma SA, further enhancing its position in the ink sector. Since then the company has expanded in the region of South East Europe through its subsidiaries in Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Serbia. Druckfarben is also exporting to Italy, Turkey, Albania, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, etc.
In 2010 Druckfarben came to an Agreement with Leventis Group of Nigeria to create an ink trading company in Nigeria, under the name DFN. In 2013 Druckfarben carved out and merged its offset division into a regional JV with the world’s largest ink producer, Sun Chemical. In 2015 Druckfarben sold its 49% participation in the JV to Sun Chemical.
In 2018 Druckfarben acquired Leventis Group’s participation in DFN thus becoming the sole shareholder. In 2019 Druckfarben decided to delist from the Athens Stock Exchange, the project was completed with the utmost success. Druckfarben is also member of Nova Paint Club.
